As we welcome 2024, we would like to take a moment to express our gratitude for your continued trust and support. We are proud to have been a part of your record-keeping journey, no matter your mission.

In 2023, Hortis users on six continents:

  • Validated the names of over 98% of their taxa
  • Created over 100,000 accessions and plant materials
  • Documented over 28,000 photos
  • Plotted over 16,000 materials on their interactive map
  • Created over 700 tags to categorise their records

Your support and feedback have been invaluable to us as we continue to help you achieve your goals.

Here are some other highlights from last year:

  • Hortis became part of Species360, a global non-profit species conservation and software company serving more than 1,300 Zoos and Aquariums worldwide and now with Hortis, expanding its mission to also support botanical gardens and plant conservation.
  • Through continuous feedback from the community, we responded with new features and enhancements to make your data capture easier and more efficient – the most recent of which was integration with Plants of the World Online.
  • The network of Hortis gardens expanded to six continents, creating a thriving community for collaboration and knowledge-sharing around the world.
  • And finally, we are very thrilled to announce that Dr Paul Smith, Secretary General of Botanic Gardens Conservation International (BGCI), has recently been appointed as a member of our board of trustees. Bringing his valuable expertise, Paul further strengthens the commitment of Species360 towards biodiversity preservation and our broadened mission to support plant conservation.
  • We celebrated the successes of many gardens such as Tohono Chul, James Cook University, and Sculpture by the Lakes. Read more these and our other highlights on our blog.

We hope that 2024 brings you joy, prosperity, and success in all your endeavours. We look forward to serving many more of you in the coming year and beyond.

Best wishes from the Hortis team at Species360,
